A psychometrist career offers exciting opportunities for those just starting out -- or those seeking meaningful, flexible work in their later years.
Peakminds offers a professional training program to learn the skills of a psychometrist, also referred to as a psychometrician, who has specialized skills in the administration of psychological tests. Psychometrists work under the supervision of licensed psychologists and neuropsychologists in hospitals, schools, universities, research labs, and private clinics as a team member who assists in assessment services. Evaluations cover cognitive, educational, and psychological tests for children and adults.
We offer several courses to further develop your knowledge and hands-on skills in psychometry:
- The foundational psychometry course covers a range of concepts, including test administration, scoring, interpretation, psychometric statistics, writing, and more. You may apply to the practical course after completing this first course. Register to begin on September 8, 2026, for live instruction or start your On-Demand E-Learning Psychometry Course today. Completion of either course will make you eligible to apply for the practical course (next step).
- The second practical course provides students with opportunities to observe, practice, and administer psychometric instruments in person. The internship is a 12-week practical training course, which involves hands-on training in our physical offices in Canada and the USA. This internship training is designed to equip you with invaluable hands-on skills and build your competence and confidence. The Foundational course must be completed prior to this.

Psychometry Primer Workshop
Join us for a practical 1-day introduction to psychometry and psychological testing, happening on September 19, 2026. This beginner-friendly workshop provides foundational knowledge in psychometric assessment, including key concepts, ethical considerations, and the basics of test administration and scoring.
Participants will gain hands-on experience through practice testing activities and a live group cognitive testing exercise where attendees will participate in scoring and interpretation exercises.
Ideal for students, early-career professionals, and anyone interested in assessment and testing methods in psychology, education, HR, or related fields.

Education Required for Course & Internship
A bachelor's degree for the online foundational course is required for applicants. After completing the online course, you may apply to be selected for the coveted in-person practical training course to gain hands-on skills to be a professional psychometrist. Note that this practical course is competitive as there are many more applicants than spots available.

Practicum/Internships Applicants Who Are Currently Enrolled in a Graduate Program
Open to students currently enrolled in a master's or doctoral in clinical psychology training or research program. You must be currently enrolled in a clinical program to apply for a practicum or internship.
In-person training is offered in Ontario, Canada, or Georgia, USA.
We offer a 4-month, 8-month, or 12-month practicum or internship.
