Practical Course Information

If you have completed our Psychometry Foundational Course, then you are now eligible to apply for our upcoming Practical Course (additional tuition).

This practical course provides students with opportunities to observe, practice, and administer psychometric instruments that are used in professional settings.  The practical course is 12 weeks, which involves hands-on training in our physical offices in Canada and the USA. This training is designed to equip you with invaluable hands-on skills and build your competence and confidence.

What to expect:

  • Gain access to major intelligence, academic, and memory tests under supervision
  • Weekly practice with a partner, two days per week (optional one extra day of access per week of practice)
  • Observe psychometrists to become familiar with the assessment testing process
  • Study, administer, and score tests
  • Learn additional psychometric tests that are used in specialized settings (e.g., neuroopsychological)
  • Meet weekly with a senior psychometrist to review progress, ask questions, and learn additional skills
  • Build competence to administer a complete battery to a volunteer
  • Write up scores in a professional report 
  • Receive feedback throughout the training course.

Requirements:

  • Completion of the Peakminds Foundational Course (either through live lectures or E-learning modules).
  • Bachelor's Degree (at minimum).
  • Availability for the full 12 weeks, beginning February 2, 2026.
  • Availability for at least two 8-hour days (Monday-Friday) for in-office practice.
    • May practice in-person for 3 days, if scheduling permits.
  • Ability to attend one of our 3 Ontario offices (i.e. Toronto, Mississauga, Collingwood).
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (needed before start date if you are accepted into the course).

Week 3 & 4:  Academic Tests

  • Wechsler Individual Achievement Test

Week 5 & 6:  Memory Tests

  • Wide-Range Assessment of Memory and Learning

Week 7 & 8:  Begin Testing Volunteers 

  • Opportunity to administer a full battery
  • Continue to learn and master the tests studied

Week 9 & 10:  Supplemental Tests

  • Opportunity to administer a full battery
  • Learn additional tests

Week 11 & 12:  Supplemental Tests

  • Learn additional tests
