
Julia Porter is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (CACBT). She completed her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto in 2009, with a specialization in health and mental health. She currently works as a Social Worker in the Mood and Anxiety Ambulatory Service (MAAS) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), providing assessment, treatment, and consultation services. Prior to this, she worked in a range of settings, including community mental health, settlement services, and within the family and children’s mental health sector.
Julia’s approach is warm, compassionate, and focused on client’s specific needs and goals. She has a trauma-informed lens and practices from a number of evidence-based modalities, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and also solution-focused, dialectical-behavioral, and mindfulness-based methods. She has worked with a range of presenting concerns, such as depression, anxiety, perfectionism, occupational stress and burnout, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.
