I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I have a Master of Arts in Education and Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa with a research focus in youth mental health. I am a clinical associate at Peak Minds and see all clients under the consultation of clinical psychologist, Dr. Syb Pongracic.
As a clinician, I work with adolescents (and their families), young adults, and adults, to manage and meet therapeutic goals using evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT). These theories take a pragmatic approach to mental health and offer systematic steps and skills that are designed to improve mood and decrease anxiety in a variety of contexts (e.g., school, work, home). I am trained to work with people struggling with low mood/self-esteem, depression, suicidal ideation/self-harm, anger and emotion regulation, attention deficit and hyperactivity (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive tendencies, social and general anxiety, panic disorder, and agoraphobia, and health anxiety. In addition, I acknowledge our mental health struggles are often nested within a network of relationships (family, friends, co-workers). Unsurprisingly, our closest connections can play a key role in how we view ourselves and the world. Exploring these relationships and increasing awareness of how we relate to others can improve mood and shed light on how we can genuinely connect (or disconnect) with those around us.
Together, we will establish personalized goals and a detailed therapy plan. We then monitor our progress in meeting these goals to ensure that you are seeing and feeling improvement. We use the information we have collected to re-evaluate your needs and our strategies periodically. Success in therapy requires commitment and determination and I offer my patience and dedication to your process. I provide in-person sessions in Collingwood and virtually in Ontario.
